Week 4!!
1 month as a missionary whaaaat??! Crazy how fast time is flying by! To start off, I'm serving in the Utah Layton Mission until my visa comes!!
I had my last few days at the MTC earlier this week and they were incredible but bittersweet. Goodbyes are hard, but forever grateful for the experiences I had there and the spirit I felt. My teachers Sister Pope and Brother Soderberg are incredible and I learned so so much from them. They prepared me so incredibly well for the field and I'm so so grateful for them!! My district was the absolute best as you all know because I can never stop talking about them:) already counting down the days till we can have a district reunion. And so so excited for when SISTER TREESE AND I ARE REUNITED IN ZIMBABWE!! Hopefully sooner rather than later haha!
Week one in the field is complete!! My trainer Sister Gray is amazing and I'm so blessed to have her. My first area is West Point and we are rooming with the STLs! Kind of fun to always have the inside scoop on everything haha! Sister Gray and I are whitewashing the area, they haven't had sisters here in over three years so all the members are so excited to have us! The members here are so so supportive, it's a really unique experience getting to serve here in Utah. The elders here before us hardley put anything in the area book so we had to start from square one. Which means contacting all the leadership in each of the 9 wards that we are over. Lots of meetings haha but things are starting to get going around here!
Some highlights from the first week in the field:
-given tons of member lessons
-went out to lunch with President and Sister Johnson
-played piano literally the day I got here in the new missionary orientation lol.
-Fun fact- 70% of all general authorities live in our mission.
-we had our first non member lesson and she wants to get baptized!! We're meeting with her again next Sunday and going to set a date!!
-came in contact with two more families that want to be baptized!! In one of those families the parents don't want to join but the kids do and the parents are okay with it. Were working on helping the boy move up in the priesthood so he can baptize his sister!
-found another family who is really inactive but decided that they want to be sealed in the temple by the end of the year ahhh!! They are already baptized but it will be so exciting to help them progress towards the temple!
-in our first non member lesson I got to teach about Joseph Smith and I quoted the First Vision. It was so powerful and the Spirit was so strong!! So so grateful for experiences like this.
It's been such a good and crazy week!! I love the Lord and I love this work. It makes me so so happy!! Hope you all are doing well, let me know if I can do anything for you!
