Week 6!!! - Dry Shampoo Can't Fix That
Hi everyone!!
Today was such a busy week but it was incredible. So many miracles, tender mercies and good memories!
I'm going to split this email up by days so I don't miss anything! Sorry if it's a bit long:)
Monday:
P-Day was so good, our district got together and all played games in a stake center gym. We taught the Browers (member family from last email) lesson 3- the gospel of Jesus Christ and it was amazing! We also got to meet an incredible family from Raymond Alberta Canada?! I didn't know them when I lived there but we know lots of the same people, needless to say we all became friends:)
Tuesday:
Tuesday was your normal day in the mission, until we had a member lesson with the Wolford family. They have 8 kids all school age and 6 of them are girls. We got to their house and the youngest girl Kate said "sisters, do you want to see our chicks?" So of course we said yes. And so she grabbed our hands and proceeded to take us over to the chicks and tell us all their names. And I actually remembered them?! There's Ghangas Kon, Omelet, Kevin, Angel, Babushka, and another one that I just realized I forgot. And then they invited us over for Sunday dinner!
Wednesday:
EXCHANGES!!
Exchanges are where you split up with your companion for the day and are companions with one of the sister training leaders (STL's) Sister Munk and I were together and it was the best day!! Sister Gray and I live with the STL's so it's always a party, but it was fun to spend some one on one time with them. We had our personal and comp study in the morning and then we went out walking from 11am to 9pm with a break at 4 to go out to dinner with sister Pun and sister Gray. Because the STL's are speaking Chuukese exchanges took place here in West Point. It was soooooo scary leading the area when I had only been there for two weeks, but God was definitely with me at all times and it was an incredible day. While out walking we met Cameron. Cameron is a completely inactive member. His car broke down in the middle of the road and so we asked if we could help him push it. He seemed hesitant but then agreed. We pushed it over to the curb and then asked if we could share a message with him and he agreed. We did and he started to get teary eyed and said it was exactly what he needed. He then told us about some really huge trials he had recently gone through. It still blows my mind how many things people are able to endure. You never know what someone's going through, so always BE KIND! Later that night after dinner we stopped by another house that sister Munk had an impression we should go to. We get to the door and she hands me her Book of Mormon and says "this ones yours " ahhhh. So we knocked and the sweetest elderly lady named Pat walked out. So we introduced ourselves and I asked if we could share a message with her about Jesus Christ. She said "I would love that, come on in!" So we went in and got to know her and then shared a scripture with her. After we read we talked about how God loves her and is so aware of her. She started crying and told us of her husband's recent passing and of some other things that happened in the past that I won't share. But we had the most amazing conversation. She told us that she's Baptist but just left that church and is looking at joining the redemption church. We asked here if we could come back the next day and teach her about Gods plan for us and life after death, and she said that she would love that and we were welcome over any time!! Pat is literally golden but everytime we go back she is never home. We would appreciate any prayers on her behalf that we might be able to get in contact with her again.
Thursday:
We started out the day with Gospel Scholarship. Sister Pun and sister Gray were sitting on a tiny couch in front of a phone and I was sitting on a chair behind the couch. We get on the zoom call and it's just us and President Johnson and he goes "Sister Baker, you look like you're sitting in the back seat of a car." Awesome, lol.
At one of our member lessons the dad gave us a giant bag of chocolate and goes "I work for Hershey's"
Friday:
It was so hot and we both got sunburned. Now they're forecasting snow this week. What is Utah weather?!
We had a lesson with Delilah who is the sweetest 10 year old. She comes from a completely inactive family but decided she wants to get baptized so we started teaching her the lessons!
When we were out walking we weren't having much luck so sister Gray and I stopped to say a prayer. After the prayer she told me to lead the way. I had a feeling to go down a certain street and we met this sweet family that was outside doing yardwork! A mom and two kids. We talked with them and you could tell they wernt too interested. We asked them if they went to church around here and the mom says "no, I work three jobs, we don't have time for any of that. I'm a sherriff and I work at a jewelry store." Cant remember the other job. But we kept talking to them and by the end of it they asked for a pamphlet and wanted us to come back and teach them a lesson. Miracles I tell you!!
Saturday:
Nothing huge happened today. We were out walking all day and had a good member meal! Then someone invited us into their house for Chinese food after.
When we got home in the evening sister Munk started a chesee fight after I showered ahh hence the email title.
Sunday:
We went to three sacrament meetings and had another non member lesson with Sister Smithy!! She is on date to be BAPTIZED!! June 4th, sad because I might not be here for it, but it was the soonest she could because of their families traveling. She is such a special woman and I could not be more proud of her and excited for her!! Aaaand Cameron came to church and looked so so happy!!
This morning president and sister Johnson came over because I guess there is a new worldwide mission rule. No couches or comfy chairs in housing complexes. So we took everything out of our apartment haha. Don't want anyone being too comfy and wasting time I guess:)
So so sorry this email was so long! I love you all, let me know if there is anything I can do for you:)
- ah sorry I'll do better at taking pictures for next week. This is sister munk and I on exchanges!
