Week 20-Zone Conference
Hello everyone!!
This was probably the craziest week of my mission so far. It all started Monday night when our entire zone abandoned my flat at the Mutare Town Chapel and we ended up having to walk downtown in the dark and take a combie back to Chikanga. Combie's are the public transportation here. Mid sized vans that they absolutely pack people into and drive like crazy. Sister Treese and I were slightly terrified and so were our Zimbabwean companions which didn't help....but we made it home alive!!
Tuesday after DC and the area we went to the town Chapel to see President and Sister Judd and the Assistants!! Wow, going from seeing them everyday to not seeing them for over a month was crazy. While my companion and I were waiting for our interviews we taught a mix of lesson 4 and 5 to the APs and it went so well!! Interviews were incredible, and then all the sisters had a combined comp study with Sister Judd. After comp study Sister Judd took us back to her hotel and we had a sisters dinner at the buffet!
ZONE CONFERENCE!! Other than the fact that zesa was out when we woke up so none of us could get ready properly, it was such a good day!! The topic for ZC was becoming lifelong converted disciples of Jesus Christ. Since Mutare is so far away from the rest of the mission, it was only our zone which meant everyone got to do at least one teaching! We did lots of roleplays and made goals for this upcoming transfer. President and Sister Judd gave some powerful teachings as well! I'm honestly in awe everytime I hear them teach. It's impossible to not feel the Spirit and leave with a new perspective.
Thursday and Friday were pretty normal until we made it to our last appointment Friday evening. Some of you might remember Brother Mugebe that I talked about in my last email. Most incredible guy. We show up at his house and his wife was there who we had never met in our 1 month of teaching him. Brother Mugebe told us that his wife won't let him join our church and she doesn't want us coming to teach him anymore. He was devastated and I honestly didn't know what to do. He asked me to leave them with a prayer and to "pray that my wife won't be stubborn and will let me join your church." Everyone please pray for Brother Mugebe and his wife!!!! He is so elect and definitely one of the most incredible people I've met on my mission.
Saturday in the area was crazy!! My comp and I were walking to one of our first appointments in the morning and it started getting REALLY windy. Dust and debris started flying in the air and it eventually made a little tornado. We were a little terrified ah! A couple hours later we were walking in a different part of the area and this guy started yelling at us. Usually when that happens we ignore them because they're either drunk or crazy or both. But this guy started following us and would stop. So right before we make a plan to run he says "Missionaries it's Verbal " huh?! Turns out it was neither a drunk nor a crazy person but it was someone that we've been trying to get ahold of and teach for over a month!! We were able to go to his house and teach him the Restoration right then. Miracles!! Then Sister Chikwenga made Sazda for dinner. What a good end to our crazy day.
Transfer calls are this weekend and transfers are next Monday, I can not believe its time already! My current companion has been in Mutare for 6 months so we're all pretty sure she's leaving. Which means 5 companions in 5 months for me ahhh. We got word that 12 new sisters are supposed to be coming in ahhhhh!! We only have 18 right now and two of them are leaving. Lots of people will be whitewashing and opening up areas and training. Excited to see what the next 6 weeks hold!!
