Week 50- Too Many Good Things
Heyyyyy everyone!!!
This last week started off with a bang!! On Monday a bunch of the Sisters went to the Old Testament Tabernacle in Salt Lake with President and Sister Johnson. It was amazing. Last year when I was serving here, learning about it and being able to give tours was probably the most impactful thing on my mission. So I was so stoked to go back. We also had a zone activity where we went out to Morgan. Such a good day.
My companion introduced me to an edible cookie dough place and let's just say it was dangerous. So good literally what.
Every Wednesday we have Gospel Scholarship which is where we get to hear from someone for an hour and they teach us on a certain topic. This past Wednesday it was by our very own President Johnson which meant that the ENTIRE MISSION got to go in person at the mission office, so that was awesome. We focused on the talk "the everlasting covenant " by President Nelson. And then we were there for another hour where he gave us an "All In" invitation. Super cool. I love learning more and finding more ways to push myself. One of them was the new expectation that out of the 10+ lessons we teach a day, at least 4 of them need to be non member lessons. Which was hard because we had no friends yet. BUT WE DID IT!! that very day. Miracles I tell you. This mission is powerful. After gospel scholarship I had an interview with President and he said "I'm just kicking myself that I didn't think of this sooner. You should've been here a long time ago. But I'm glad you're here now. I love hanging out with you. " bahahaha if you're not best friends with both your mission Presidents then what are you doing.
We found friends ahhhhh!! We met Kimberly and her fam who had just moved in 3 days earlier and were looking for "a family friendly church" I'm sorry whaaaaaat?!? She had never heard of ours which is crazy and so were so excited. We also found Shannon who has almost the same story. Super excited to help these friends progress!!
Ummm my comp and I were asked to give a 25 minute teaching at district council on repentance and how it applies to our friends....(don't get any ideas zhm. 3-5 minute teachings are sufficient) but it actually went so well. District Councils here are always a time of spiritual revelation and I love it.
We met this couple from Hawaii and they're so cool. Let us in to share a mesaage!! And then we met one of our sweet members who is from the PHILIPPINES!! Coincidence? I think not.
To finish off the week we got to go to the temple with Sister Burleson and Sister Wright. We didn't have any appointments but we got in to do initiatory and an endowment session. It was amazing. President told us to go this week because we had just gone to the Tabernacle and there are SO many similarities.
This week I've been trying to be "in the palm of His hand." Every thought or impression I've gotten that's good I've acted on. Even if it seems so insignificant. And sometimes it was. But more often than not it led to some pretty incredible miracles. And a pretty exhausted Sister Baker at the end of the day. But I know what it feels like to have your mission end in the blink of an eye, and not know if you're returning. So I'm not taking any chances. I love this work too much to waste the Lord's time.
I'm sure there's more, but this week was just so so good.
Spiritual thought: in The Everlasting Covenant there is one quote that I love. "Once we make a Covenant with God, we leave neutral ground forever." We either make it or we don't. Both feet in or both feet out. But the good news is, when we commit-God commits too!! And that special relationship won't be broken. Not by God at least. So then after we make covenants we need to keep them!! 1 Nephi 14:14
I love you all!!
